We're headed back up north for the long weekend and I can't wait to get on the road! Regardless of the weather forecast, I have no doubt we have a fun few days ahead of us. Wishing you all a very happy and much enjoyed long weekend.xx

ice cream sandwiches
There's no better treat than an ice cream sandwich on a hot summer day. For something so yummy they're actually pretty easy to make. I made my go-to cookie recipe - the recipe on the back of the bag of the Hershey's chocolate chip bag, and just got some store bough vanilla ice cream and rainbow jimmies. Match up your cookies so that they're close to the same size. Let the ice cream soften slightly, place a big scoop on one cookie and gently push together. Then roll the sandwich in the sprinkles. I wrapped each sandwich in parchment paper and a tie before putting them back in the freezer. The result was delicious little desserts that we ended up bringing over to the park to enjoy!
{ Please excuse the slightly droopy sprinkles - the ice cream was melting faster than I could handle! }
{ Luckily melty ice cream and droopy sprinkles taste just as good :) }

{ Finally got the paddles hung - all hand painted by D's grand dad }
{ Our print now hangs from a pulley that we picked up at the Junction Flea }
{ New stack of monthly reading (ofcourse the September Issue is buried in there) }
{ Hand crafted silk screen print - reminds us of our love of the East Coast }
{ A dreamy print that hangs on the wall beside the bed }
{ Pretty cream candles now line our fireplace }
{ In love with the metallic and velvet details on our new pillows }

lobster rolls
When lobster's on the menu, I can't help but be reminded of memories of happy meals enjoyed with loved ones. Lobster is one of those luxuries that I feel is always best enjoyed in the company of people you love. It's special and delicious and we decided to share some lobster love with homemade lobster rolls when we had D's family over yesterday. We went to the Asian supermarket T&T to get the lobster, which was a fun and overwhelming experience all in one. We kept the ingredients simple and it turned out great. Buttery buns combined with the creamy lobster salad made for a yummy lunch spent catching up and playing with babies.
How To Make: Lobster Rolls
serves 6 adults
5-6lbs of lobster
top-cut hot dog buns
6 tbsp butter
3/4 cup diced celery
1/2 cup diced green onion
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
1/4 cup light sour cream
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp white pepper
salt to taste
Boil you lobster for approximately 12 minutes (we googled how long to cook it - and cooked it the day before which helped with our prep time). Shell the lobster and put aside meat in a bowl.
Stir in diced celery and green onion and combine sour cream, mayo, lemon juice and pepper. Combine, cover and place in fridge.
Melt butter in frying pan then dip the outer sides of the hot dog buns in the pan. Place on baking sheet and broil until golden brown - about 3 minutes per side.
Spoon lobster salad into warm buns and serve!
Insider Tip: I asked the owner of Rock Lobster (via Instagram) for tips on making lobster rolls and he said to use lots of butter! Because really, who doesn't love lots of butter with their lobster!

a little pizzaz
When it comes to most pieces, I'm all about versatile neutrals that are super wearable. These jackets would be fun exceptions to that rule and a beautiful way to transition from summer into fall. The colors on both are stunning and the textures only make them even more desirable. I'd pair either with jeans and a t-shirt to give a simple, everyday look a little pizzaz.
vacation: new york
D and I both turn 25 this year and we decided early in the summer that instead of getting eachother gifts we would plan a trip. New York was decided as the destination of choice, and whats more romantic than inviting your best friend along and staying with another great friend?! All joking aside, we could not be more excited for a get away and to spend the weekend with amazing friends. The trip is less than a month away and my mind is racing with all things New York. Being the foodie I am, I think I'm most excited to do some serious taste testing. So far, we've planned to go Smorgasburg - a foodie flea market in Williamsburg. My mouth was watering as I browsed through the vendors. My only concern is not being allowed to bring as much food home and I'm sure I will want to!

couch for the future
I'm 100% in love with our beautiful new couch but I have to say, however far down the road - when the need for a new sofa arises - this is that sofa. I'm completely in love and obsessed with this piece of furniture.
humpday hair-do
I've been both intimidated and intrigued by the braided crown hair-do for a while now. I'm always questioning whether my hair is long enough or whether the elastics will show - it's about time I just give it a try. This hair tutorial has inspired me to give it a go. Goodbye mid-week blues, hello beautiful new 'do!

wishlisted
You can never go wrong with geometric lines and beautiful bright colors! I would love to pair this bracelet with a plain, white t-shirt or a cream knit as the weather turns cooler.
a fall dress
Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing the summer away - but I couldn't help but start to look forward to fall date nights when I saw this dress. I don't think there's anything cuter than long sleeve mini dresses.
weekend in algonquin
This past weekend was one of my favorites of the summer. We went up to Algonquin to stay with a friend visiting from Vancouver and had the greatest time. The sun didn't stop shining and we laughed, ate and drank our way through our visit. We might be headed back up next weekend and I'm giddy at the thought. Hope you enjoyed your weekend as much as we did!
