I stopped by my local bike shop on lunch last week and when I walked out of the shop I just happened to notice my favorite shoe store (conveniently located next door) was having a "buy one get one free" sale - I figured I'd just take a look around...

Not so shockingly, I came home with two beautiful new pairs of shoes. Biking home with a purse and two shoe boxes proved a little difficult, but it was worth the challenge. I love the edgy buckles on the strappy sandals and the bright red color of the pointed toe wedges - both sure to be lovingly worn in before the end of the summer.

... Then, they're good enough for me! Have you ever browsed around Gwyneth Paltrow's blog Goop? I have a mega girl crush on Gwyneth.. she's one of my favorite style icons, always dressed so beautifully. So when she posted these Joe Fresh shorts as one of her 'summer finds', any doubt I had about their funky unique-ness was brushed aside. I picked up a pair yesterday, even better - on a great sale. I also grabbed the matching blazer, which I think I'll need a little confidence to wear paired with the shorts - but I have no doubt I'll get lots of wear out of these items separately.

I had to throw together a quick dinner earlier this week and managed to come up with pan seared sole. It was amazingly flakey and buttery and the tomatoes added a fresh sweetness. A few ingredients and simple steps later, we sat down for a great meal. 

How to Make:

Pat dry the sole filets, salt and pepper

Melt butter in pan with diced garlic over medium heat

Place sole in pan, add in chopped tomatoes

Cover pan with lid and let simmer

Fish is ready when it's white and flakey

When my sister was visiting last week we searched the mall for a dress for a wedding she has coming up. She ended up finding a beautiful coral dress at BCBG and my eye was slightly distracted as we browsed around the shop. I couldn't get enough of this floral print  that had been paired with the soft blue hues in the different styles. Our summer weddings aren't quite finished and I would love to dance and party the night away in any of these pretty dresses. 

caramel milkshake

I've been jonesing for a caramel milkshake for weeks now and I finally gave into my craving last night. There was nothing complicated about it - vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and milk, blended all up it totally hit the spot! I forgot how easy to make and yet deliciously satisfying milkshakes are.. a potentially dangerous realization.

What do you have planned for this weekend? I'm in my first wedding this weekend! It's hard to believe, the day is finally here, but one of my oldest friends is getting married tomorrow. I have no doubt it will be a love filled celebration and I'm so happy to be a part of it!  Whatever you have planned I hope you have fun. xx

surprise

My sister and her boyfriend flew home to surprise my mom on her birthday last night! It was such a wonderful present and my mom's reaction was very happily tearful. They're here for a short visit but it's so great being together. We're off to Wonderland today and I think I'm more excited then I ever was when I was a kid.

Do you have any fun plans for this weekend? I'm planning on relaxing by a pool tomorrow in an attempt to get a little bit of a tan and we really don't have much else going on. After a busy week at work, I'm looking forward to doing nothing and drinking wine. I've said it before, but quiet weekends at home at the bomb.dot.com!
