favorite golden globe gowns

Golden Globes is hands down my favorite awards show. All the stars are laid back, socializing, drinking and having fun - I always find it the most enjoyable show to watch. The red carpet is always the best part of any awards show in my opinion and I thought I would share some of my fashion favorites...

how to wrap a party gift

With the holidays having just finished up, I can bet everyone has recently wrapped a present or two. It's so fun wrapping all the gifts up, making sure everyone has a special little something under the tree. But when it comes to birthdays and other celebrations, I think the extra thought and time spent on wrapping a gift is just as important. I love gift giving, even if it's a small gesture, it's best received when it's comes in beautiful packaging. Below I share a simple, easy way to wrap a birthday gift.

Wrapping Tip: Always have on hand a roll of brown craft paper and a go-to rubber stamp. Pick up a few different colors of string and ink pads to allow for some variety in your decor throughout the year!

happy weekend

{ jotting down dates for the year ahead }

It's a little surreal having the first work week of 2015 already wrapped up! It was nice to have a couple days at home after B.C to get settled before the week began and stock the fridge up with fresh, healthy foods.

We so enjoyed our holiday and the time with family and friends, it was the most perfect way to end off a great year and start one that is sure to be even better.

We have nothing planned this weekend, but I'm looking forward to lazy sleep-ins and I'm hoping to get into my new book.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend. xx

every street in toronto

D and I went to the One of a Kind Christmas Show earlier in December, and while we didn't have anything in particular we were looking for, we always love finding unique, creative pieces for the house. We've been wanting one of those street map illustrations of Roncesvalles found them at Dave Murray's booth, but unfortunately so did a lot of other people, and he was sold out (luckily you can buy online!). One of the other super cool prints he had available was a large graphic detailing every single street in Toronto. I was in awe, semi-doubting whether he actually listed every street, and stepped right up to try and find our street. We don't have any wall space left at our current apartment, but I have Dave's business card stashed for when we are on the hunt for artwork for our new home.

a winter walk

One of the things I was most excited for about spending the holidays in Whistler was that we were pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas. The weather certainly did not disappoint, as there was a huge dumping of snow! The village and mountain looked so magical draped in fluffy white snow. As a lover of snow, it couldn't have been more perfect.
D and I snuck away for a walk before dinner one night. It was snowing as we walked along a wooded trail. It was one of those moments, where you can't help but be amazed by how beautiful nature can be.

whistler bungee

So, I did something crazy on our Christmas vacation... I went bungee jumping! I had mentioned previously that I really wanted to go, and apparently my sister was listening, because Christmas morning she surprised me with a big box filled with a bungee jumping brochure! And it was booked for Boxing Day at 2pm, so I had no chance to chicken out!
We hiked up a huge hill the next day to the bridge and before I knew it I was harnessed up standing on the ledge. Strangely, I was not very nervous, and even had the guts to take a big leap off the platform. It was such a fun, exhilarating experience and I honestly would have taken a second jump in an instant!

Here are some photos if you care to see...

hello again

We're back from holidays and I have to say it was such a great trip. Having family and friends on the West coast, we've really fallen in love with B.C. Spending Christmas in Whistler with our entire families is all I could have asked for. Then to top it all off we got to start the new year off with D's parents and close friends in Sechelt. It's always hard getting back to the daily grind but it's easier having such wonderful memories fresh in my mind.

That being said, 2014 was amazing - truly better that I could have imagined. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by supportive, loving family and friends. I wake up every morning excited and looking forward to see what the day has in store - and that's a pretty awesome feeling.

In the year ahead I want to work at being healthier, staying positive in my attitude, finding new creative outlets and reminding those I love how special they are to me at every chance I get.

I can't wait to see what 2015 will bring! I wish nothing but the best for all of you! xx
