sunday in high park

Yesterday D and I had a late sleep in then bundled up, grabbed a coffee and croissant and headed over to High Park. It's very rare that I'm able to keep my bearings once we're in the park, so D led the way on a three hour adventure. Here are a few photos if you care to see...

this weeks new discovery

So I was a little late to the game picking up on the genius of the ride sharing app, Uber. This week I tried Uber Eats for the first time. It's a different part of the same application, that provides a daily menu from local restaurants with 2-5 meal options, once ordered your credit card is charged and the food will show up at the curb usually within about 20 minutes. The menu options range but think fresh and unique salads, flavorful sandwiches, rich curries, even chicken and waffles and fresh cold pressed juice! The variety is great and the convenience couldn't make it easier. For days when office work gets so busy you can't escape the office, this option is sure to become a popular choice. If you're downtown at lunch time, I'd suggest giving Uber Eats a try.

happy weekend!

What are you up to this weekend? We will be glued to the couch, beer in hand and cheering loudly during tonight's Blue Jay game! Then I have a massage booked for tomorrow morning and I'm looking forward to the hour of total relaxation. We're celebrating a friends birthday downtown tomorrow night then I'm hoping to get out and enjoy the fall weather with a long walk or hike on Sunday. We went to the Toronto Snow Show last night and I came home with all new ski equipment, so while I'm loving the fall colors, I'm now selfishly counting down the days until the first snow fall!

What ever fun your weekend brings, enjoy yourself. xx

how about them jays

Go Jays Go! I don't think there were many Torontonians who didn't tune into last night's Game 5 to watch the Blue Jays win! The game was filled with close calls and controversy and kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Lots of screaming, cheersing and nine innings later, the Jays are continuing on, one step closer to the World Series. To say it's an exciting time to be a Toronto sports fan is an understatement, this city was made for this.

strawberry lemon mascarpone cream tart

This recipe popped up on a sidebar ad as I was browsing a blog last week. With 'Friendsgiving' coming up, I had been looking for a new dessert to try, and knowing the hostess' favorite is cheesecake, this was an easy choice. As it turned out, not only an easy choice, but also an easy recipe. The crust is the only part that requires baking, and for a short ten minutes at that. The filling combines whipping cream with mascarpone and lemon juice for a fresh creamy flavor. The berries were perfectly ripe and provided a lovely tart sweetness.

I would also use this recipe as a base to work off - I could see adding in cinnamon to the filling and topping with apples and caramel or switching the graham cracker crust for oreo and adding orange zest and juice to the filling.

This cheesecake was such a big hit, I almost felt guilty about how easy it was to whip up! Definitely one to file away for future use in the recipe book.

a short week ahead

Hello and Happy (belated) Thanksgiving. I hope you all enjoyed time with family and friends and feasted on some turkey. We had a very social extended weekend so I'm looking forward to a quiet week and having time to recoup. Here are a few photos from recent days if you care to take a look...

bar cart essentials

One of my closest girlfriends just moved into a new place downtown. I've helped her with setting the place up and we decided to stage a small family antique table as a bar cart. She found a perfect lucite tray and pretty textured glasses but still needs a few accent pieces. Bar accessories always make a great gift, and it's fun to have all the tools necessary to whip up a fancy cocktail at home and impress guests. Here are a few ideas, all under $40, for a happy housewarming or hostess gift.

weekend wedding

This past weekends wedding was certainly one for the books. It's hard to even put into words how amazing the evening was. Every single detail was beautifully thought out and as the night went on, we all just had more and more fun. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect day. The bride looked radiant and it was a happy and love-fiulled celebration for a terrific couple. Here are a few photos if you care to see...

it's the weekend!

{ an amazing sunset earlier this week }

Hello Friday! It's felt like the official arrival of fall this week, which is always a welcome transition. Although I have to admit I felt like the new-bie as I biked to work with freezing hands as I passed all the smart bikers with gloves!
I caught up with friends earlier in the week and helped another friend get settled in her new artment. I also had my favorite lunch with my momma before she heads out West to visit my sister. Lately I've felt like I've been striking a happy work/life balance and it really wakens my awareness and reminds me to take a moment to be grateful for how wonderful my life is!
We're headed up to Muskoka tonight - we'll bundle up in scarves and drink baileys to battle the cold and then get all dolled up for the beautiful wedding celebration tomorrow! I seriously can't wait! Photos to come next week.... Have a terrific weekend. xx
