have a wonderful weekend

{ wild daisies }

Happy Friday! What do you have planned this weekend? D and I are planning to spend the weekend exclusively just the two of us and I could not be more excited. We're going to our first Blue Jays game of the season tonight and I can't wait to chow down on a ballpark hot dog and waste away the innings eating peanuts and drinking beer. Then tomorrow, we're headed to Prince Edward County for an overnight at the Drake Devonshire to celebrate out ten year anniversary. I'm nearly bursting at the seams with anticipation.

Whatever you're up to this weekend, I hope you enjoy yourself. xx

her majesty's pleasure

A friend and I checked King streets newest nail salon, Her Majesty's Pleasure earlier this week. It's nail salon meets bar meets bakery - all easily summarized as 'heaven on earth'. The atmosphere is truly dreamy - every aspect of the space is designed and polished and it feels like a luxurious escape, located just off the rush of King Street. I sipped champagne while I had a pedicure and it was easily the most enjoyable spa experience I've had to date. It's the perfect space to unwind after a tough work day or plan a fun date with girlfriends. If your looking to get your nails sandal ready, I'd suggest checking Her Majesty's Pleasure out.

a fresh new look!

So, what do you think of the new look?!

Lately I've been feeling that the blog needed a bit of a make-over. Lucky for me, I have a girlfriend who is a complete computer guru who is willing to help me out. I had an idea in mind and last night we got together and chatted over wine as she helped me update the site. In the end, with her help, we truly achieved the look I was going for. The aesthetic feels a lot more like 'me' and I'm so proud and excited.

Thanks always for your support.xx

wanderlust wednesday

I've been dying to check out the Drake Devonshire Inn and figured I was completely out of luck when I looked up availability and the inn was booked for the entire summer. D and I have out 10 year anniversary coming up this weekend and little did I know that he was busy planning away and using his powers of persuasion to book us a night away. He somehow (I still haven't really heard all the details) managed to score a room at the Inn for Saturday night! We plan on bringing our bikes and checking out some nearby wineries, enjoying a dinner at the hotel restaurant and (fingers crossed) maybe even breakfast in bed! Oh and there's a nearby provincial park with sand dunes right on the water. I cannot wait for this mini getaway and I'm happy to say that my wanderlust will soon be satisfied!

summer strawberries

With the season of juicy, ripe summer strawberries just around the corner I can't help but look forward to the delicious flavorful ways to enjoy them. Feeling inspired at the sight of rhubarb at the market, it seemed only right to pair it up with strawberries for a crisp - plus it's Ds favorite dessert, so I scored some mega girlfriend points. I went light on the sugar and let the tart rhubarb and juicy strawberries really shine. Served warm with vanilla strawberries, it was the perfect way to end off the long weekend.

Here are a few other amazing strawberry desserts to keep in mind when those green cardboard cartons filled with little red jewels start showing up on the grocers shelves.

fresh white florals

I bought my first peonies of the season on Friday and they have brought such a happiness to our house over the past few days. They were too pretty not to share...

happy long weekend!

{ dinner companions at Bannock }

What fun do you have planned for the long weekend? D and I are having a date night tonight and then escaping the city tomorrow for a night at a friends cottage on Lake Simcoe. A perfect balance of city fun and a mini getaway.
This week really flew by. I hosted a dinner at home with girlfriends from highschool and we broke in the new dining table! And last night I went to the Counting Crows concert at Massey Hall with another friend. We danced and sang like maniacs and had the best time (Omaha is playing over and over in my head)!

 I'm looking forward to relaxing this weekend, especially with an extra day off.
Whatever you have planned, enjoy yourself! xx

a british classic

Have you ever tried Pimm's? I first tried it in England in a lemonade cocktail, paired with cucumber it was refreshing and not overly sweet. Here, Food52 pulls through with a classic recipe, perfect for summer entertaining.

a cool spring jacket

As I was frantically trying to leave the house this morning (no surprise), I grabbed an old jacket that I had gotten on our Europe trip a few years ago. It was from an Irish bargain shop (similar to Forever 21) but has a cool, casual feel to it and is easy to throw on with pretty much anything. This Everlane jacket reminds me of it - practical yet stylish, it would be a great jacket to wear bike riding or during lakeside walks. One of the neat things about it is Everlane's transparent pricing, an innovative and honest approach to retail and e-commerce. Do you have a go-to spring jacket? It's definitely a wardrobe staple come this time of year.

hello friday

{ friday night feast }

What do you have planned for this weekend!? We celebrated a friends birthday last night at Rodney's with oysters and wine and it was a really great way to unwind from the week. I have my cousin's baby shower tomorrow and I can't wait to see her cute pregnant belly. And I'll get to spend the entire day with my Momma, so no better way to spend Mother's Day then together! Whatever you have planned, enjoy your self. If you have a chance, try to make it over to High Park to see the cherry blossoms! I would suggest TTC or biking to avoid the traffic. xx
